Trailah-fo, king of planet Nooun, started his descent into madness upon hearing that an assassination attempt upon his life had been foiled in the city of Allien. The king was furious his warriors dared allow an assassin within two hundred kilometres of his castle gate, and immediately executed his entire royal guard for their carelessness.
Convinced he was surrounded by useless cowards, Trailah-fo sent to neighbouring planets for mercenaries. His call was answered by the Krawl, a cruel race from the sanguine system. The Krawl were well paid, and practiced countless debauched and evil acts on the people of Nooun under the nose of an uncaring king.
All Trailah-fo asked of his royal guard was an oath swearing their body and soul to eternal servitude. The Krawl agreed, badly underestimating what this truly meant. Upon the king’s death the Krawl, overconfident during their long stay, soon awoke tied to stakes, hands bound to their weapons alongside their dead charge. Gorging on fatty meats for decades the Krawl gave into starvation slowly, their screams rattling the sepulchre for many days, leaving behind only their sons, sired amongst the populace to follow them as protectors of the new king in life and in death.
